In the beverages world, non-alcoholic cocktails have emerged as a vibrant and delicious option for those who want to enjoy the experience of an elegant drink without the effects of alcohol. Alcohol-free spirits provide a fantastic alternative for people wondering what non-alcoholic drinks to order at a bar.
To raise awareness for Sober October, we organized an alcohol-free cocktail tasting at The Cover club in Barcelona, located in the Sir Victor Hotel. The tasting was a resounding success, leaving participants delighted and captivated by the creativity and refinement of the non-alcoholic blends.
Which Non-Alcoholic Cocktails Did We Try?
The stars of this tasting were the alcohol-free spirits, a category not as popular as non-alcoholic beers or non-alcoholic wines but with enormous potential. The goal was to explore completely different options, so we selected these non-alcoholic cocktails, all of which you can purchase at our alcohol-free drinks shop:
- Non-Alcoholic Spritz: made with Strykk Not Aperitivo mixed with the fantastic non-alcoholic sparkling wine Noughty.
- Non-Alcoholic Gin and Tonic: crafted with Imagine, the premium alcohol-free gin made 100% in Italy.
- Dark and Stormy: crafted with Caleño Dark & Spicy alcohol-free rum, mixed with lime juice and ginger ale.
We started with a non-alcoholic aperitif, then the classic gin and tonic, and finished with a more tropical cocktail. We transitioned from the bitterness of the aperitif to combinations with herbal and tropical fruit notes. Additionally, Andrea shared the interesting history behind each brand.
What Were the Opinions on Non-Alcoholic Spirits?
Participants were guided through a tasting experience involving all the senses, from visual presentation to captivating aroma and exceptional flavor. Of course, attendees were encouraged to share their opinions and describe what they thought of the non-alcoholic drinks.
Overall, all the alcohol-free cocktails were very well-received. The Non-Alcoholic Spritz was a favorite because its taste closely resembles that of a traditional Spritz. With the alcohol-free gin, we agreed that the aroma and texture are almost identical to an alcoholic gin. Finally, the alcohol-free rum generated the most interest, as there aren’t as many options on the market. Capturing the flavor of rum is challenging, but this alternative provides a similar experience with 0% alcohol. What everyone agreed on was that the combination of Caleño Dark & Spicy with ginger ale is delicious and very refreshing.
The tasting was not just an individual experience but also an opportunity to socialize and share impressions. The connection among participants created a fun and friendly atmosphere that added extra value to the experience.
