Barron’s, one of the world’s most reliable financial news sources, has published an article entitled “The boom of the alcohol-free distillate business,” written by Jack Emen.
It states that alcohol-free distillates are now a big business, with dozens of emerging brands from both craft entrants and major spirits companies, as well as an ever-increasing presence at bars, restaurants, and stores.
Alcohol-free distillates are not only for those who are sober. An increasing sect of the public is pursuing wellness and moderation and prefers to choose products aligned with their mindset. These are ideal drinks for both designated drivers and imbiber who wants to alternate their usual drinks with a good non-alcoholic drink to limit his consumption. It offers choices for consumers and ensures that everyone can have the social experience of going out with friends, or enjoying a flavorful libation hand-in-hand with the meal without the inconvenience of alcohol.
According to Heidi Dillon Otto, Director of Non-Alcoholic Products at Distill Ventures North America, “people are looking for new experiences, and want to get the best out of everything they do at a time when health and wellbeing are more important than ever.” Her organization has invested heavily in non-alcoholic drinks, with 25% of its brands falling into what it refers to as the “Non-Alc space”.
The article reviews some of the most innovative brands on the market – that you can find in The Blue Dolphin Store (such as Stryyk, Lyre’s or Seedlip) – and ensures that there are more to come. It also points out to the existence of NA bars where only alcohol-free products are served in many cities of the world and/or pop-ups (like ours) dedicated exclusively to those who want to indulge and socialize without booze.
As an example, Seedlip is available in more than 25 countries, in the majority of the World’s 50 best bars, over 300 Michelin-starred restaurants and a total of 7,500 bars and restaurants.
Studies show that more consumers, particularly younger ones, are open to trying NA spirits and other alternatives, and want more high-quality options for doing so. Furthermore, once exposed to high-quality NA drinks these consumers are more likely to continue seeking them.
However, in the words of Mrs. Otto, “although the Non-Alc space is growing fast and the hospitality industry is starting to take it seriously, the reality is that most bars and restaurants still do not offer a great range of experience if you are not drinking alcohol at that moment”. This is the reality that The Blue Dolphin Store is here to change.
She continues, “The growth so far has been both quick and strong (…) there’s no sign of the early returns slowing down or regressing (…) what the market demand looks like (in the future) and getting to that point itself implies there’s huge growth potential for this sector (… ) and of the bars and restaurants we know that have introduced non-alcoholic offerings, not a single one has subsequently scaled that back because of a lack of demand.”
Without a doubt, a great future is predicted for the alcohol-free sector. Unbeatable news for all the friends of The Blue Dolphin Store.
