No, non-alcoholic wine doesn’t make you fat, so it is perfect if you want to lose weight or keep in shape. If you’ve spent the months leading up to the summer in “operation bikini mode”, don’t lose what you’ve achieved in a fortnight’s holiday. And don’t give up the good things, like a glass of good wine… without alcohol. If you can get rid of your beer belly by drinking 0.0 beer, you can avoid those extra kilos by consuming (even excessively) non-alcoholic wine.
Non-alcoholic wine retains all the taste, aroma and texture of traditional wine, but, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) database, it only contains about 6 calories per 100g. That means it has 14 times fewer calories than red wine (85 Kcal/100 g); white wine (82 Kcal/100 g) or rosé wine (83 Kcal/100 g). That is why non-alcoholic wine is not fattening, but there is more: as it does not contain alcohol, it prevents the accumulation of fat, which, in addition to avoiding unsightly fat deposits, reduces the risk of diseases such as stroke and hypertension. Alcohol-free wine is also very healthy because it contains all the polyphenols and none of the substances that are harmful to health.
At The Blue Dolphin Store we attach the nutritional information table for all our products. As they are all non-alcoholic beverages they tend to have far fewer calories than other drinks, and all the nutrients.
If non-alcoholic wine doesn’t make you fat, which one to choose?
Here you have all our non-alcoholic wines, normally the wine is considered according to the type of grape used for its preparation. In general, non-alcoholic wines can be classified into three categories according to their colour: white, red and rosé. Sparkling wines are sparkling if they are carbonated. Non-alcoholic wine is not fattening, in any of its varieties.
White wine
Non-alcoholic white wines are usually young, light wines that are prepared using different types of green, skinless grapes. It is the flesh of the grape that gives the drink its characteristic pale or straw yellow colour. Among the most popular grape types are Chardonnay, as in Lussory Organic Chardonnay, Verdejo as in Win, the Kolonne Null or Aldea 0.0, Sauvignon Blanc as in Somée Sauvignon Blanc, Macabeo or Viura, Riesling as in Somée Sauvignon Blanc, Macabeo or Viura, and many others. Galician non-alcoholic white wine is made with Albariño grapes that give the wine a light and bright yellow tone, as is the case of Zero Zero. Natureo alcohol-free wine is made with Moscatel de Alejandría and is one of the most reputable non-alcoholic white wines in the world.
Red wine
Good non-alcoholic red wine owes its colour to the pigments that make up the skin of the grape. They can be of different shades depending on their method of preparation. They have an intense fruity aroma and are usually crianza reserve or gran reserva aged in wooden barrels and in the bottle itself. Among the types of grapes used for red wines are Merlot and Syrah as Oddbird Domaine de la Prade, Tempranillo as Aldea Tinto, Cabernet Sauvignon as Sinzero Tinto and Garnacha as in Natureo Tinto.
Rosé wine
Rosé wine without alcohol is made in a similar way to non-alcoholic white wines, but it is macerated with the skins for the necessary time to give it the desired colour, aroma and taste. The longer the maceration, the more intense the rosé tone. They are made with different grape varieties such as Colombard, like Cero Rosé, Merlot, like Somée Merlot Rosé and Tempranillo, like Aldea Rosé.
Sparkling wines
Non-alcoholic sparkling wines are sparkling wines usually obtained from a second fermentation. They are then de-alcoholised to remove all the alcohol, usually by the reverse osmosis process: all the components of the wine are separated by different dissolution and hydration processes, and all of them are put back together again by removing the ethanol. This is how some of our wines are produced: Oddbird Blanc de Blancs, made from Chardonnay grapes, Kolonne Null Sparkling Rosé, a delicious cuvée, or Lussory Organic Sparkling, a cava made from Airén grapes, delicate and with very small bubbles.
